Mamak : Steven’s Corner Selangor by saimatkong

Back in 1977, Steven’s Corner was then just a little mamak stall at the corner of the road in OUG garden, run by husband and wife serving basic mamak food such as roti canai and mee goreng. Today after 29 years of hard work and dedication, Steven’s corner has become what it is today, a generic mamak hang out and yam cha place for the Klang Valley mamak craze.

The most sellable dishes are the fried items such as the “Burung Puyuh”, Nasi Lemak Sepcial, Tosai Tisu, Chicken Chop, Roti Bakar and Cheese Naan, to name a few.

Mamak : Bak Kut Teh Selangor by Jiangti Wan-Leong

This is the place, for really awesome food, pork related. Its the bak kut teh mamak place, you hang out and eat real meal. Very good for after party or clubbing but the house is too boring place. Unless got happy ending. The taste is 100% chinese and served with rice, and chili padi. Wuah! Just those 2 also can oredi.Located by the main road of kepong close by KFC, but dun go into KFC instead because this place once you eat. You never want to eat another place that has receipt. My recommendation is bring a hot girl with you, and see how she lose her “jaga preety” when the food come and she start drinking the last bit of herbal goodness. And the boss never kacau you if you need more beer they leave you alone.

Stall : Kee Tak Zek Selangor by saimatkong

Whenever you craving for Tong Sui “dessert”, you have to think KTZ. I think it’s the only shop that serve Tong Sui in the wee hours.

KTZ (or kee tak zek which means “remember to eat”, “kei tak sek” in Cantonese) started as a stall in Kepong around 1990.

Today, apart from the old stall, they have three restaurants located along Jalan Imbi, in SS2 and Plaza OUG.

    Specialities:

    * Sago loh: Honey dew loh, mango loh, kiwi fruit loh, mat toh loh (mixture of several fruits)
    * Tong sui: Peanut butter, black sesame
    * Snacks: Sui kow, Vietnamese spring roll, crab meat taufu, chicken “boxing”, steamed yam cake, steamed Shanghai sticky rice

Bistro : McD Centre Point Selangor by saimatkong

McDonalds, i’m lovin’ it’. It’s a happening place where by it’s packed by all the youngster and event professionals are there for the food and environment. Most of them are seen with laptop using the wifi surfing net while enjoying the food (burger, fries, pie) and the bottomless soft drinks.

There’s an open air area for smoking and projector screen for live football matches.

Parking is free after 6pm and weekends.

Bistro : Champ’s Bistro Selangor by Jiangti Wan-Leong

Lot F10, 1St Floor, Centre Point, Lebuh Bandar Utama

I’ve spent many nights here because it the neighbourhood place. If you don’t want to go to yet another Mamak or just need beer in the belly. This place is quite comfortable and affordable.

It’s a nice place to sit back and just chill. No it doesn’t have big couch with girl pouring drink, which they should.

This place you can show up in your jeans and have a nice chat with friends, and best of all, its very close to home. No bang bang, parking cheap cheap, mari mari. RM10 mali mali~

Mamak : William’s Mamak Selangor by saimatkong

It’s a best place for youngster to have gathering, yam cha or chill out. But I would say it’s a little pricey. It served local mamak food (nann, roti, maggie goreng, nasi lemak, nasi campur, teh ice, teh tarik) to western food (spaghetti, chicken chop, soft shell crab fried rice)

The boss there is a bit funny some times and he does make you angry some times. Overall the environment is not bad and the quality of the food is at the top range but be prepared to burn a hole in your pocket becoz of the pricey food. Ahah but it’s worth? =)

Hong Kong Style : Hong Kong Snack Stall Kuala Lumpur by Poh Ee

This is our first-ever post in Yam Cha Corner.
I read this nice review by shinyshampoo.com posted at benghan.com.

      Here is the brief review:
“they have the best curry fishballs i’d ever had.. really… its yummy and cheap… it doesn’t taste like the normal curry we ate or those curry fishballs we ate in pasar malam…”

“usually i’ll eat 3 fishballs and a bowl of shark fins soup.. and its just RM1.50 for 3 fishballs and RM4.00 per bowl of shark fins soup. its cheap to make me full the whole day..”
